Kilmarlic used this in her chicken salad recipie.  Just wondering, I have never used it, is this a good option for mayo?  I mean I LOVE pimento and cheese the homemade kind but there is NO-WAY to make it without mayo.  would this be good in it?  Sure would cut down on the calories and carbs

With Mayo you are kind of between a rock and a hard place. If you go with the regular Mayo then it has all the fat and calories but almost no carbs. If you get the fat free it has carbs because they put sugar in it to make it taste better. Unfortunately Fage yogurt won't really work well for mayo in everything but it is OK in some things. You have to experiement. I think it makes a really good sour cream replacement as it is kind of tart. I like to eat it with berries for breakfast. I sweeten it with splenda and add sugar free flavored syrups. I like rasberry and vanilla. The great thing about Fage is the protein is really high. 1/2 cup has like 17 Gms of protein. Yeah!

Thanks Cheryl,
I was kinda thinking it might have a sour creamish taste.  lol lol  Which would not be good for pimento and cheese between pimentos and that yogurt one might over power the other.  I think best choice is just go with reg but cut way back on amnt used.  One more dumb question if you dont mind.  I have seen plain yogurt but have never noticed fage is that the name brand or type yogurt? Thanks for all your info.

The Fage is in the Organic section of my grocery store and not with the regular yogurts. You may want to try mixing the Fage half and half with mayo on somethings.

I've grown to love it and now the kids look at me weird if  I make regulat dips out of sour cream and not the yogurt.

Fage is a brand. Greek yogurt is what the product actually is. Other brands I have seen are Chobani and Oikos. Some stores place it with the Organic products and others have it with the other yogurts. Some grocers don't carry it at all.

I love Greek yogurt. The consistecy is so much richer than traditional yogurt. There are a multitude of ways you can use it. Another fun treat I got from another WLS person is to sprinkle some (not an entire package_ of sugar free instant pudding mix into it. It makes it even thicker. The cheescake flavor of pudding is especially tasty.

I sometimes use a wedge of Lite Laughing cow cheese as a mayo substitute when making tuna or chicken salad. It is thinker, but will blend if you ma**** with a fork.
